More than your Magic Elena of Avalor is a popular animated television series that was created by Craig Gerber. The show follows the adventures of Elena, a young princess who saves her kingdom from an evil sorceress and must learn to be a fair and just ruler. The main idea of the show is that Elena is more than just a magic-wielding princess, she is a strong and independent leader. Throughout the series, Elena faces various challenges and obstacles but always manages to overcome them with her determination and bravery. One of the key themes of the show is empowerment. Elena is a role model for young girls, showing them that they are capable of anything they set their minds to.

Vin Diesel tasked with hunting down witches

Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have released the first trailer for Breck Eisner‘s The Last Witch Hunter, starring Vin Diesel as the titular character, who is tasked with preventing a coven of witches from unleashing a plague on New York City.

Based on the trailer, the film looks like a culmination of Underworld, Blade, I, Frankenstein, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, and other contemporary supernatural hunter films. That being said, there is no reason to believe that this could not be any fun to watch. After all he will be joined by Julie Engelbrecht, Elijah Wood, Michael Caine, and Rose Leslie.

Check out the trailer below.

The tone of the film seems to indicate that it is striving to be a bit more serious than those modern day horror flicks.

The Last Witch Hunter opens in theaters this fall on October 23, 2015.

The modern world holds many secrets, but the most astounding secret of all is that witches still live amongst us; vicious supernatural creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world. Armies of witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe for centuries, including KAULDER, a valiant warrior who managed to slay the all-powerful QUEEN WITCH, decimating her followers in the process. In the moments right before her death, the QUEEN curses KAULDER with her own immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife. Today KAULDER is the only one of his kind remaining, and has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches, all the while yearning for his long-lost loved ones. However, unbeknownst to KAULDER, the QUEEN WITCH is resurrected and seeks revenge on her killer causing an epic battle that will determine the survival of the human race.

I had a glimmer of hope that The Last Witch Hunter might not be this bad. I’m always pushing for original properties to not be total garbage, and director Breck Eisner’s previous movies aren’t complete bombs. I would’ve settled for something at the level of Brett Ratner’s totally dumb but fun Hercules, but The Last Witch Hunter is heavy on the former and devoid of the latter. I will say this: it’s almost certainly better than that book I slaved away at as a child, the title of which I’ve long since forgotten, but I probably could’ve gotten away with calling it The Last Witch Hunter. ■

Elena is Disney's first Latina princess, and the show features a predominantly Latinx cast. This representation is important in a media landscape that often lacks diversity and provides children with a more inclusive world view. Elena of Avalor also incorporates elements of Latinx culture and folklore. The show often showcases traditional Latinx music and dance, as well as mythical creatures and legends. This adds depth and richness to the storytelling, and helps to educate viewers about a different culture. Overall, More than your Magic Elena of Avalor is a show that goes beyond the typical princess narrative. It teaches important lessons about leadership, kindness, and diversity, while also providing a captivating and entertaining storyline. It is a show that both children and adults can enjoy, and one that offers a positive and empowering message..
